June 7 Kid's Mini Survival Adventure What a better way than for your children to spend time out in the woods and fresh air learning new skills and working as a team to build a Mini Survival Camp! DeSoto State Park 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  (Transportation provided from Bruce's Foodland) Cost: $20 pp Ages 8-12 To register email Angie Shugart angie@oneworldadventureco.org

June 7 Creative Kids Days: Incredible Insects  Adventures in Nature Bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors to creatively learn about animals, plants, bugs, and more with JSU Field Schools. Your children (ages 5-10) will want to attend ALL of these hands-on outdoor adventures! 10 am to Noon  JSU’s Little River Canyon Center:  $5 per child; pre-registration required by the Monday prior to the program (Limit 15 kids). Parents remain with children for this program

June 8 Lunch and Learn with Sarah Stahal Eat, chat and enjoy a dynamic speaker line-up with Lunch & Learn, sponsored training sessions taught by innovative business minds.  Each session will provide take-home-and-put-to-use information, which includes topics on leadership, destination retailing, marketing & social media, economic development & incentives, entrepreneurial growth, business processes, and understanding community-initiated development offered to business minded professionals in and around Fort Payne. Held at the Vintage 1889; $15 ticket includes training session, choice of a house special lunch with drink. June 8 The Inspire Series This is a set of quarterly events that have been created for serious minds looking to raise their business IQ. All attendees are encouraged to engage with – and elicit advice from – guest speakers Thomas Norquist and Dr. Chad Williamson from DeKalb MD will discuss business-related concerns as we learn and grow together. Tickets are $5 each which includes light refreshments and a donation towards funding Main Street beautification projects. 256-996-2131

June 8 Homemade Jam Join us as MACC launches a new regular feature called Homemade Jam, a songwriters showcase of local musicians. The format is a follows: From 7-9 p.m., the “jam” takes place as performers showcase their musical skills. From 9-10 p.m., each songwriter will perform one original song they have written. At 10 p.m., the audience will vote for best original song with the winner receiving a $50 prize. Admission is $5, participating musicians are not charged. June 10 HamFest/Tailgate Come join us for the sales and trading of amateur radio gear. Cost is $5 per person at the gate.Each person gets 1 prize ticket,  additional tickets available at the front. Be ready Solar.  Hosted by Dekalb County Amateur Radio Club. Held at the DeKalb VFW Fairgrounds. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

June 10 1st Annual Scale Fun Fly All types of Scale aircraft welcome. Any size, gas, nitro, electric. Plaques for best built up scale and ARF scale aircraft. Pilots will be judging. June 10 2nd Annual  Farm-to-Table BBQ We want to welcome friends and neighbors to The Farm at Windy Hill for our Farm-to-Table BBQ.  We will be serving BBQ plates featuring our own pastured pork, fresh-picked-vegetable sides, and homemade pound cake. We will also have more of those great local musician as well as lawn games for all! We will be selling plates of food (BBQ plates and sandwiches, with a senior discount offered on plates), and the event is free for all to attend. 10 a.m. til 1 p.m.

June 10 Blue Grass on the Rim Jacksonville State University presents the premiere Canyon Concert Blue Grass on the Rim at Little River Canyon. Enjoy bluegrass performers play authentic mountain music, guaranteed to resonate with die-hard bluegrass purists as well as followers of folk, country, rhythm & blues and rock & roll. You’ll hear bluegrass talent from around the country. Doors open at 5 p.m. – so arrive early and bring lawn chairs, blankets, family and friends, to sit before the new Canyon Concert outdoor stage adjacent to the beautiful Little River Canyon National Preserve. June 10 T. Graham Brown In Concert T. Graham Brown will be in concert at Chris Roberts School of Music. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the evening will begin with the Canyonland Vocal band at 7 p.m. T. Graham Brown will take the stage with his band at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 for dance floor seating and $20 for carpet seating. June 11 Forest & Field: Yoga Hike-Little River Trail Interested in starting your day in a positive way? Experience yoga while enjoying the beauty that is Desoto State Park! Join yoga teacher Deidre Brown and park naturalist Brittney Hughes for a great outdoor experience of strengthening yoga poses AND hiking along beautiful trails. This hike will be a mix of trail hiking with an outdoor yoga session. Combining hiking and yoga practice in the great outdoors confers benefits unmatched in any other setting. You get the light cardio and strength-building that hiking offers, the toning, flexibility, and relaxation that yoga offers, and the powerful connection to Mother Nature that being outdoors offers.  This hike will be along the yellow trail following the West Fork of Little River from the DeSoto State Park Lodge onto the historic CCC trailside shelter for some nice views of the river. Moderate hiking, there and back, less than 2 miles. 10 a.m. to Noon DeSoto State Park; Free, but pre-registration is required. Hikes are open to all ages.
