Class This
class covers rappelling basics indoor and basics outdoor. The basics
indoor class teaches you about rappelling safety/rappelling gear and its
application, rappelling knots and application, and rigging points needed for
rappelling. The basics outdoor class reviews safety procedures, knots,
gear, and rigging points; then you learn how to safely rappel and do several
rappels before returning to the office for the rappelling test and knot

The Serious Skills series is a variety of classes and workshops that provide opportunities to discover a hidden talent or learn a new skill for personal enrichment. Classes are open to local residents, overnight guests and park visitors. We are offering this class to participants that attended the canning workshops held in DSP this year, as well as folks that already have experience (prerequisite: hot water bath canning) We will be canning meat as well as soup. Amphibians and reptiles comprise about 17,000 species of vertebrates on this planet, and surprisingly, many species are ‘comfortable’ living with people. Come join Dr. George Cline (aka Dr. Frog) and his friends as he presents this talk about these ‘friends’ that live among us. Seating is limited, so bring your own comfortable camp chair if you wish. The focus of this nature walk is to reflect your observations of nature using a personal journaling style…..in many different ways! On this hike, we will individually follow the instructions on the signs along the trail to participate in a variety of nature journaling activities. At the end of the path, the entire group will meet up to share our experiences before we hike back. Art materials are provided, just bring along your favorite notebook.
